Helen Mariana Matul Calijau

My name is Mariana.

This year I went to school and I liked it very much. Little by little I learned to write and read but it’s a little difficult.

Name: Helen Mariana Matul Calijau
Date of birth: January 06, 1980.
Parents:
Carlos Humberto Matul Mazariegos.
Maria Eugenia Calijau García de Matul

Letter from her parents:

We will give a general overview of Helen Mariana's life.

Since she was young, Mariana suffered hearing problems in her ears and due to the bad treatment of doctors who misidentified her disease. This caused poor hearing in both ears, problems in her speech and in her growth.

It is for this reason that she is slowed down in her education, since in our country there exist few educational centers that care for children and girls with auditory problems and the few ones that exist have quotas of inscription and very high monthly tuition. In our case, for economic reasons we neither have managed to pay for these educational centers nor could we have given her a personalized treatment that is directed toward the improvement of Mariana’s hearing and speech problems.

In the present year, she was integrated into the school Colegio Dra. Maria Luisa de Sthall, where she’s made progress in her writing and reading.

As parents we have also the responsibility to educate our small daughter who studies 4th grade of primary school. We do not have our own house and our income is minimal, so we are grateful for the intention of being able to help with a scholarship to Mariana.
